This aerial approach sets the tone for what follows, revealing just how remote and untouched this landscape truly is. From above, the valley stretches out in every direction, offering a sense of scale and freedom that stays with you long after landing.

Hot Laps with Hayden Paddon

With a long history of rally car driving in the Paddon name, Hayden was born to get in behind the wheel.  Holding New Zealand's only World Rally Champ title, let Hayden's talent speak for itself and be prepared for the ride of a lifetime!

On the brink of his World Rally Champ comeback, you too can be a part of the action. Sit alongside Hayden while he navigates his way through the custom built Hot Lap in the CanAm Maverick X3 and watch this Kiwi fly. A ride you will never forget!

Clay Bird Sports

Enjoy a variety of challenges with a multi-target platform facility and five trap types. Our expert instructors can help first-timers hone their skills.

The art of shooting a clay disk from the sky with a real shotgun is an infectious activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, young and old.  Step up to the challenge at our purpose built, fully equipped 5 target range. Our instructor will coach you one-on-one through your clay bird experience.

Archery

Draw. Aim. Release. The ancient sport of archery is making a comeback thanks to Hollywood films such as Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games. Tap into your competitive spirit and enjoy the challenge.

We use the expertise of Blake and the Team at Breakone to coach you through your archery experience. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, come and enjoy our archery course with all equipment provided on the Ben Nevis property.

Mountain Biking

Take your time to experience the history of the Nevis Valley by bike or take on some of our more extreme tracks among Ben Nevis mountain, Carrick town and Old Women Range. You can access the vast North Hector Mountains and the Remarkable Range on the west or explore Old Woman Range, Garvie mountains and Carrick Range on the east.  There are many stopping points in the Valley where you can discover hidden treasures of the past. The rugged terrain, the remote paths, the distances and the climbs can make it a challenging trail for the more experienced riders. 

Fly Fishing

New Zealand is well known around the world for its fly fishing and the Nevis River has often been referred to as the pinnacle.

The Nevis River is a remote high country river that flows over barren tussock land and a stable rock bed with stone and shingle banks, with a series of riffles and deep pools that hold fish.

Season runs from 1st October - 30th April. Back Country License Holder conditions apply.

Hunting

Hunt the grounds of Ben Nevis Station with our team of experts. Our guides will share their favourite spots and make your trip a memorable one.

Making themselves at home among the vast wild setting of Ben Nevis, you will find one of the larger deer species, Red Deer. With their dominant large antlers, the best time to hunt this species is during ‘roar’ season from March to early May.

The Red Deer share the station with Fallow Deer, who will often be found among the valley near the barren tussocks and remote high country river.  The odd Chamois will be found at the top of the station, looking out over the stunning scenery. They can be hard to spot but their distinctive black stripe can give them away.
